Our Super Strong Agri-Dome Stuctures are engineer designed to meet and comply with SABS wind load ratings of 100km p/h to withstand South Africa’s variable weather conditions. We insist on using fully hot dip galvanised square tubing with a minimum of 3 mm structural steel for portals and 700 gsm heavy duty rip-stop Pvc covers with UV stabilisers for extra durability in the sun. When comparing our shelters to steel structures, please note the additional number of portals and purlins used which provide added strength, durability and of course safety.

We only use industry leading, fire retardant, Rip Stop, 700gsm, UV stabilised PVC covers with optional end walls – the same material chosen by trucks and international transport companies.
Our Rip Stop PVC covers cost us significantly more than we could buy lightweight PE covers! It’s worth it because tensile tests show PVC is significantly stronger, stretches 7 times less and lasts longer than the other lightweight materials on offer when continually exposed to the heavy demands and constant high wind/snow loads with large variant weather pressures and events.
The fire performance of membrane structures is unique when compared to conventional types of construction. Although the building membranes are combustible, the fire hazard from the structure as a complete building is comparable or better than that of a non-combustible building.
The non-combustible construction provides the advantage that until the building fails, the fire is contained completely within the structure and contributes no fuel to the fire. On the negative side, this containment can cause the fire to progress further and more rapidly due to energy feedback from the enclosure and containment of the heat within the space. In addition the building contains the smoke making escape and fire fighting more difficult and smoke damage more severe.
The membrane cover of the membrane-covered frame structure will melt where it is in contact with the flame, creating an opening which provides a significant benefit by allowing the heat and smoke to escape and reduces the energy feedback to the fire, acting as a smoke and heat vent. Membranes contribute a very small amount of fuel to the fire as they burn. These membranes will not ignite and spread the fire across the membrane.
